id you know the Whippet is the fastest domesticated animal of his weight, capable of speeds up to 35 mph?

A member of the Hound group, Whippets were bred to hunt by sight, coursing game in open areas at fast speeds. Numerous representations of small greyhound-like hounds can be seen in art dating back to Ancient Egyptian times. Pharaohs bred a small sighthound dog related to the greyhound to keep in their palaces. In medieval England, a small greyhound breed became popular for use as a ratting dog. Whippets were then commonly known as "snap dogs" for their tendency to "snap up" nearby prey.

Whippets are quiet, gentle and intelligent, usually not prone to excessive barking, but require regular exercise. They have relatively few health problems and are active in dog sports such as lure coursing, agility, and flyball. They are keen and focused when active and running, but are couch potatoes around the house, quietly lounging around on (or under) any comfy surface they can find.

BowsieWowsie offers Whippet custom dog stationery or choose from over 50 dog breed silhouettes, such as Italian Greyhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Pharaoh Hound and many more.
